Communication has always been at the heart of youth work. Whether facilitating workshops, advocating for human rights, leading community initiatives, or supporting young people to express themselves, youth workers rely on their ability to communicate with confidence, clarity, and empathy. Yet public speaking is often viewed as an innate talent rather than a practical skill that anyone can develop.

This is where "Revolutionary Voices: Public Speaking Skills for Change – Practical Guide for Youth Workers" comes in. Designed for youth workers, educators, and facilitators, this new ONDE publication provides practical tools to help young people find their voices and use them to create positive social change.

The guide captures the methodology, activities, and outcomes of our Erasmus+ Training Course "Revolutionary Voices: Public Speaking Skills for Change," which brought together youth workers from eight European countries in Lecce, Italy, June 10-18, 2025. Through non-formal education, experiential learning, and intercultural exchange, participants explored how public speaking, storytelling, and advocacy can strengthen youth participation, promote human rights, and inspire active citizenship.

Inside the guide, readers will find:

  • practical public speaking activities that can be easily adapted to non-formal education settings;

  • facilitation tips for creating engaging and inclusive learning environments;

  • workshops exploring human rights, advocacy, storytelling, body language, active listening, and persuasive communication;

  • step-by-step activity guides with learning outcomes, materials, and implementation instructions;

  • resources to help youth workers build confidence, encourage participation, and empower young people to become active voices in their communities.

More than a summary of a successful Erasmus+ project, this guide is a practical toolkit designed to support youth workers. We hope it inspires educators and facilitators across Europe to use public speaking not simply as a presentation skill, but as a powerful tool for dialogue, inclusion, advocacy, and democratic participation.

We invite you to download "Revolutionary Voices: Public Speaking Skills for Change – Practical Guide for Youth Workers" and make it part of your youth work toolkit.
