Racism continues to affect young people and communities across Europe, from everyday prejudice and discrimination to systemic inequalities that limit opportunities and undermine social inclusion. Youth workers play an essential role in challenging these realities, creating inclusive environments, and empowering young people to stand up against discrimination. However, effective anti-racist youth work requires more than awareness and good intentions. It demands practical knowledge, critical reflection, and a commitment to meaningful action.

This is where "Beyond Bias: Embracing Anti-Racist Practices – Practical Guide for Youth Workers" comes in. Designed for youth workers, educators, and facilitators, this new ONDE publication provides practical tools to recognize and challenge racism, address unconscious bias, and promote equality and inclusion in youth work and beyond.

The guide brings together the methodology, activities, and outcomes of our Erasmus+ Training Course "Beyond Bias: Embracing Anti-Racist Practices", which brought together youth workers from eight European countries in Lecce, Italy, from November 18 to 26, 2025. Through non-formal education, experiential learning, anti-racist pedagogy, and intercultural exchange, participants explored how racism operates at individual, institutional, and structural levels while developing strategies to create more equitable and inclusive communities.

Inside the guide, readers will find:

  • practical anti-racism activities that can be adapted to different youth work and non-formal education settings;

  • step-by-step exercises exploring privilege, identity, stereotypes, unconscious bias, discrimination, and social inequalities;

  • facilitation tips for navigating sensitive conversations about race and creating respectful, inclusive learning environments;

  • educational approaches combining human rights education, critical reflection, and anti-racist pedagogy;

  • strategies for empowering marginalized young people, challenging discriminatory practices, and promoting meaningful participation;

  • resources and tools to support continued learning and the implementation of anti-racist initiatives.

More than a summary of an Erasmus+ training course, this guide is a practical resource for youth workers committed to turning awareness into action. We hope it encourages educators and facilitators across Europe to challenge their own assumptions, recognize systemic barriers, and integrate anti-racist principles into their everyday work.

We invite you to download "Beyond Bias: Embracing Anti-Racist Practices – Practical Guide for Youth Workers" and use its activities and resources to help build more inclusive, equitable, and welcoming communities.
